I wish babies were like puppies and you could plop them in a snowdrift and take pictures as they FLIP OUT. Maybe next year.

Stupid Day Care

I don't find it at all coincidental that Ellie has her first fever two days after joining day care. Grrrrrrr.......

Day Care

Well, Ellie is officially a Sunflower Kid...I go back to work next week, and Ellie starts full-time at the local Sunflower Day Care. She spent two hours at the center today and yesterday as a sort of "getting to know you" period. She was great, and totally chill. I, of course, was a total mess. This wasn't unexpected, and I'm sure it will get better in the coming weeks. But still, Monday morning is going to be a bit of a shock. I'm just going to be in denial for the rest of the week and pretend it's not happening.

In other news, E had her four month check up! She's now 12 pounds 2 ounces, and is 23 inches long. She's still small for her age, but is perfect. And we're beginning to think her eyes might stay blue...

Although we won't start her on solid foods for another two months, the pediatrician said to go ahead and start letting her taste flavors. Some things she suggested are lemon, balsamic vinegar, garlic, and the smell of fresh bread. Fun! That should make for some entertaining photographs.

Vacation's Over

Now it's back to setting the alarm clock and showering every day. Totally no fun.

Little Pig

Yesterday, Ellie laughed so hard she snorted. It was awesome. In other news, practicing using your hands while relaxing by the wood stove is not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Vermont, FINALLY

We're off to Vermont for the week! I can't believe it's taken us this long to take E up to New England: she's already been to Jersey, Long Island, Florida...

This week I plan to teach her the finer points of sitting by fires, sipping hot chocolate, and eating Beef Bourguignon. And hopefully apple pie. (Hint! Hint!)

I don't know how much we'll be posting, so I leave you with this wicked cute snapshot of Ellie holding hands with her Brooklyn-boyfriend, Pauly.

Ellie's new best-bud (and future husband) was born this afternoon!! Congratulations to John and Becky, and a huge WELCOME TO THE WORLD to David Andrew Coburn. We can't wait to meet you.
